Questions ???

1 - Be sure you have your proof of payment – pass, transfer or O-Train ticket – before you board.
2 - Wait behind the yellow line until the train comes to a full stop. Do not wait on the extenders.
3 - The doors of the train will line up with the platform extenders – this is where you board – but please let passengers exit first.
4 - To open the doors, press the exterior door button when it turns green. Never pry open or hold open the doors.
5 - Please find a seat or move down the aisle. Hold onto the grab rails or straps for safety.

Persons in wheelchairs or with mobility aids should board at the centre doors. A blue accessibility logo is painted on the station platform as a guide. The designated accessible area is located inside next to the doors. Remember to set your brakes, if applicable.

If the fold-down seats in the accessible area are occupied, politely ask the occupants to yield their seats. If necessary, you can ask the operator, via the emergency intercom near the doors, to make a priority seating announcement.
If you’re a cyclist, board at the door with the bicycle logo and hold onto your bike in the designated area adjacent to the door.

Exiting
The train stops automatically at each station. You do not need to signal or request your stop.

Proceed to an exit when your stop is announced. When the green button on the door lights up, press it to open the doors. Watch your step as you exit.

OC Transpo is committed to a safe and harrassment-free environment for all employees and customers.

Tips

  • Please leave the designated priority seats for those who have difficulty standing.
  • Please do not take up more than one seat – place your briefcase, backpack or parcels in your lap.
  • Headphones must be used with a radio.
  • Please hold strollers securely and keep the aisle clear, or hold your child and fold the stroller.
  • For safety reasons, you cannot wear skates or rollerblades or go barefoot on the train. Please hold skates and skis carefully to avoid injuring others.
  • Do not put your feet on the seats.
  • Only service animals are allowed on the train.

Q & A
1 - What if I have a question? Can I ask the operator?
The operator is not available while he or she is operating the train. In an emergency, you can speak with the operator via the intercom located near each exit door. In station shelters, you can use the free auto-dial “Information” button on the payphone to reach our Info Centre.
2 - Will other trains be operating on the same track?
No. The only time another train might use this track would be when the O-Train is not operating.
3 - How is this Light Rail system unique?
It is the only system in North America operating on a mainline railway, crossing other rail lines, with one operator on board. Because of this feature, special additional safety measures are in place.
4 - How noisy is the train and what impact will it have on the neighbouring communities?
The train is very quiet. However, the train bell will sound as it approaches and leaves each station and at the pedestrian crossing near Brookfield Road.
5 - What is the future of Light Rail in Ottawa?
City Council voted to terminate the North South Light Rail Transit Project Agreement. The O-Train will continue to operate as usual for the foreseeable future.
