Low-floor buses

What types of mobility aids can be accommodated on conventional low-floor buses?
Mobility aids up to 27 inches wide can be accommodated. However, larger models may fit some vehicles. If you want further information about whether your mobility aid can be accommodated on conventional low-floor buses, call 613-842-3636 ext. 2873.

What is the difference between Para Transpo and OC Transpo’s conventional accessible bus service?
Para Transpo offers door-to-door service, plus some assistance from the operator, but you must be registered and pre-book your trip. Conventional service operates on a regular schedule along a fixed route and offers the freedom of travelling at your convenience. However, you should be able to get to and from the bus stop and be able to board the bus on your own or bring an attendant if you require help.

How can I tell which bus is a low-floor, fully accessible bus?
These buses look similar to high-floor buses. Look for the blue and white wheelchair symbol in the upper corner on the front of the bus.

What happens if both wheelchair positions are occupied or the bus is full with a standing load?
The operator will inform you when the next low-floor bus is scheduled to arrive. In some cases alternate transportation arrangements can be made.

If I use conventional low-floor buses, will I still be able to take Para Transpo?
Yes. Using conventional transit on a regular or occasional basis will not affect your status with Para Transpo.
