Attendants

Drivers cannot provide special assistance while the vehicle is in transit nor can they guarantee that you will be delivered into the hands of someone else at the drop-off location.  For these reasons, customers who cannot be safely left unattended on the vehicle or at any drop-off location, must be accompanied by an attendant.

Customers who are six years old or more and who always need special assistance beyond what the driver normally provides, may with medical certification, be eligible for Attendant privileges.

An application form must be completed and returned to Para Transpo Administration. Once this is done, the customer’s registration file will be updated to indicate that an attendant is required for all Para Transpo trips. The attendant travelling with the customer will travel free. For safety reasons, persons who qualify for an attendant will only receive service when they are accompanied by an attendant.

Persons with disabilities who are visiting Ottawa can apply for the same attendant benefits by calling and advising us of their transportation needs.

Companions

If a companion will be accompanying you, tell the booking agent when you are making your trip reservation. Unless special arrangements are made, only one companion is allowed, and that person will be charged the regular fare.
