Para Transpo is a door to door transportation service for persons with disabilities, which prevent them from being able to use OC Transpo's regular, fixed-route transit service.  It is funded by the City of Ottawa and administered by OC Transpo.  The City of Ottawa assumes responsibility for the delivery of Para Transpo van service as of Jan. 1, 2008.

Conventional Transit

OC Transpo no longer offers free conventional transit service for customers using a wheelchair, scooter or walker.

A new discounted pass is available which reduces the cost of transit by more than 60% for people with disabilities who also have a low family income. Find out more about the Community Transit Pass.

Registered Para Transpo customers are also entitled to purchase a Community pass whether or not they receive ODSP Benefits.

Your Community Pass is accepted on Para Transpo with an extra top up of either cash or bus tickets. For example, from Monday to Friday during the morning rush hour (6:30 to 8:59 a.m.), you must add $2.50 or 2 bus tickets, and at all other times add $1.50 or 1 bus ticket. Extra charges apply to rural zones.

The O-Train is FREE for all registered Para Transpo customers, but you must be able to provide your registration number upon request.

Para Transpo has a large fleet of modern, air conditioned cars and lift-equipped vans.

Customers are helped in and out of vehicles and service is provided on a reservation basis from one accessible building entrance door to another. This means that drivers will help a person using a wheelchair up or down one step only.
