OC Transpo and STO: Ready for
the Challenge! Ottawa-Hull - OC Transpo and The Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) will play a leading role next summer when hundreds of thousands of spectators attend the Francophonie 2001Games. More than ever, public transit will be the best way for spectators to attend the various sporting and cultural events in the Ottawa-Hull region. Due to the capacity crowds, public transit will be the most efficient way to avoid parking and traffic congestion since it will provide easy access the different official sites of the Games. To make it even easier to travel by public transit, every event ticket for the Francophonie Games provides free return transit service. Simply show your event ticket to any OC Transpo or STO operator upon boarding to ride free to your event of choice. Spectators are invited to use the regular OC Transpo and STO public transit services which will be supplemented during the Super Francofête from June 24 to July 14 and the Francophonie Games, from 14 to 24 July or the special shuttle services which will be offered for the Games' opening and closing ceremonies. "As official transporter, STO is particularly proud to partner with OC Transpo to play a key role for such a high profile international event like the Francophonie Games" said the STO Chairperson, Claude Bonhomme. "STO is committed to work hand in hand with OC Transpo to meet the many challenges of transporting the general public, 3,000 athletes, 3,000 volunteers, 400 media, not to mention the many international delegations, special guests and dignitaries," added Mr. Bonhomme. "We are indeed very proud to be a part of this international event in
partnership with the STO. An event of this magnitude will require real team work
to ensure everyone is transported quickly and efficiently to the sporting and
cultural events throughout the Super Francofête and the Francophonie
Games." said Madeleine Meilleur, Chair of the Transportation and Transit
Committee for the City of Ottawa.
