Stop and smell the tulips with oc transpo

Ottawa
- OC Transpo will offer free tulip shuttles to take in the splendor of the 2001 Canadian Tulip Festival. The first OC Transpo tulip shuttle leaves Major's Hill Park Saturday May 12, at 10 a.m. on its way to eighteen of twenty official sites and the breathtaking tulip beds around the Capital's most popular destinations.

The free shuttles will operate on both weekends during the festival. The service will run every 10 minutes, except on Friday May 18, when it will run every 30 minutes.

Passengers can get off at any of the eighteen festival sites served by OC Transpo, then board the shuttle again -- free of charge. OC Transpo will provide shuttles to the Ottawa and Hull sites such as the Museum of Civilization.

Festival goers are encouraged to get to the free tulip shuttle by transit to avoid downtown parking congestion. They can Park & Ride or take the bus all the way. To make transit even more economical, OC Transpo customers can use the DayPass as a family pass on Sunday for the two Tulip Festival weekends. This means that up to six people, four of whom must be under 12, can ride any OC Transpo route for only $5 a day. DayPasses are available at over 375 vendors or on the bus.

For more information and assistance with transit trip planning, festival-goers should call 741-4390, or visit OC Transpo's web site at www.octranspo.com.
