Transit Riders Enjoy 2 for 1 Fares on Clean Air Day

Ottawa - OC Transpo and the Société de transport de l'Outaouais customers will get the chance to treat a friend to a free transit ride on Clean Air Day, Wednesday, June 6. This one day "Bring a Friend" offer is part of Environment Week, June 3 to 9 during which commuters are encouraged to find more environmentally friendly ways to get to work. Choosing smart alternatives like walking, cycling, inline skating or public transit helps the environment by reducing the number of motorized vehicles on the road.

Both transit systems have partnered to do their part for the environment by offering customers the opportunity to demonstrate just how easy, convenient, and environmentally friendly it is to take transit. In the past five years, increases in ridership on both transit systems have resulted in 29, 000 cars off the road in National Capital area. OC Transpo and STO customers paying a fare by pass, smart card, cash or ticket will be able to have a companion get on the STO or OC Transpo buses for free on June 6.

During Environment Week, cities across Canada compete to see who can get the most people to use green commuting options. This year, the National Capital area has challenged Victoria to see which city can motivate the highest number of commuters to go green. Residents who regularly travel by transit are encouraged to register too!
