Hull - Wednesday 11 July 2001 - OC
Transpo unveiled its transit service plan for the Francophonie Games at a
joint press conference this morning. OC Transpo encourages Ottawa
residents to take advantage of the free transit service included in the
cost of all Francophonie Games event tickets and leave the driving to us.
Many Official Sites for the Games have only limited parking. OC Transpo is
partnering with the STO to provide high frequency, reliable service to all
events and competitions during Les Jeux from July 14 - 24.
Most official sites in Ottawa such as Lansdowne Park,
Terry Fox Athletics Facility and Mooney’s Bay are already well served by
transit, however supplementary services, route extensions and special park
& ride lots were developed to provide even more direct service to
major events.
A special transfer point at Bank and Wellington was
designed specifically to make transfers between STO and OC Transpo
services quick and easy for customers attending the various competitions.
All fare supplements normally required to transfer from one system to the
other have been suspended during the Games. Volunteers will be available
at the transfer point to answer questions and help spectators make the
connection.
OC Transpo’s unlimited use $5.00 DayPass is ideal for
visitors who want to enjoy the many tourist attractions in the National
Capital Region during the Games. The DayPass is available at over 400
locations throughout Ottawa and at the National Capital InfoCentre across
from Parliament Hill. It can also be purchased on the bus (exact fare
required).
Schedule information and OC Transpo trip planning
assistance are available by calling 741-4390 or visit us on the web at
octranspo.com. A complete transportation guide is also available in the
Official Program for the Francophonie Games.
