FALL AND LABOUR DAY TRANSIT SERVICE

Ottawa - On Sunday, September 2, fall service changes go into effect on most routes and new timetables are now available. Many routes have seasonal schedule changes or routing changes. In addition, trips on some routes may be cancelled or adjusted because of low ridership. Routing changes are the result of TransPLAN 2001 - OC Transpo’s public consultation process held earlier this year. Most routing changes this fall affect the communities of Kanata and Nepean South. Special school routes and trips will also begin September 4 to coincide with the start of the new academic year. Please consult the New Service Fall 2001 brochure for details on route changes, or check octranspo.com

All full-time students are reminded that they can get a 20% discount by purchasing an annual student pass, available at any OC Transpo Sales and Information Centres. Students are reminded to renew their OC Transpo photo id card before September 30. OC Transpo photo ID teams are visiting schools, colleges and universities over the next few weeks - their schedule is available on the web site or from OC Transpo at 741-4390. Get your September pass early and avoid the back to school line-ups and last minute rush.

OC Transpo will run Sunday service on Labour Day, Monday Sept. 3. This means only those routes normally in service on a Sunday will operate.

On Labour Day Monday, OC Transpo’s DayPass becomes a Family Pass. A family of up to six people, with a maximum of two who are 12 or older, can travel all day for $5. OC Transpo’s DayPass is available at over 300 vendors in the Ottawa area or on the bus.

Detailed service information and schedules for all routes, including school routes, are available at www.octranspo.com. While most OC Transpo Sales and Information Centres will be closed on Labour Day Monday, the Rideau Centre office will be open from 10 am to 6 pm and the telephone information centre at 741-4390 will operate from 7 am to 9 pm. For bus arrival times, customers can call 560-1000 plus the four-digit number on their bus stop.
