New O-Train on display at Canada Science and Technology Museum

Saturday, Sunday, Monday, September 1 to 3, 2001 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Ottawa, August 31, 2001 –  Ottawa’s new O-Train is on public display for the first time this weekend at the Canada Science and Technology Museum. The sleek new red and white Bombardier Talent will be part of the Railway Weekend, a special weekend exhibition showcasing many railroad artifacts from the Museum’s collection. The O-Train will soon be used to transport passengers from Greenboro in the south to Bayview in the north. 

During the weekend, the public can get on board the O-Train free of charge and take a first-hand look at the future of commuting in Ottawa. The O-Train will be on display from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. this Saturday, Sunday and Monday, September 1-3. Other activities this weekend at the Canada Science and Technology Museum include guided tours of the museum’s Locomotive Hall, Shay Locomotive Rides, and a tour of an 1850’s all-wood passenger coach.

The Museum is located at 1867 St-Laurent Boulevard at Lancaster Road. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for students/seniors and $12 for families (2 adults and 2 children); free for children 5 and under. Free parking is available on the Museum grounds. When planning your visit to the O-Train, consider using transit to get to the Canada Science and Technology Museum — it's easy! Transit riders can take their regular Transitway route to St. Laurent station. Routes 85, 111 and 144 run from St. Laurent transit station directly to the Museum on St. Laurent Blvd. Route 85 runs on a 20 minute frequency on Sundays, while routes 111 and 144 depart every 30 min. - 1 hour. Routes 86 and 125 depart from Hurdman station every 30 minutes and can also bring you a short walk away from the Museum. For exact schedules and trip planning, call 741-4390 or visit octranspo.com
