Proposed Changes to Public Transportation for People with Disabilities |
|||
|
Ottawa - The City of Ottawa is considering making some changes to the way it provides public transportation for people with disabilities. The proposed changes stem from a study that was recommended in the 1997 Comprehensive Review of OC Transpo. Consultants from IBI Group, who have just completed the comprehensive study of the demand for transportation by persons with disabilities, have proposed several changes that would have an effect on the transportation that some Para Transpo customers currently receive and would change the method of determining who is eligible for Para Transpo services.Before proceeding with the changes, the City of Ottawa is conducting public meetings in order to receive feedback and answer questions about the proposed changes. Feedback from the public consultation will be used to develop staff recommendations. These will be presented to the Transportation and Transit Services Committee on November 7, 2001, where city councilors will vote on proposals. Open houses will be set up at Council Chambers, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier as follows: Wednesday, September 19 Thursday, September 20 Thursday, September 20 Comments can also be sent before September 30, to:
