|||||
|
Ottawa- In honor of National Veteran’s from November 5 to 11, veterans who wear their medals or their uniform will be able to ride OC Transpo and the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) free during the entire week. "Veterans from the City have given so much to our country," said Ottawa Mayor Bob Chiarelli. "And whether they attend the Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph or drop in to their local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, we are pleased to offer free bus service during all that week." The STO is proud to support National Veterans’ Week. "Offering free service to our veterans is a small way to thank them and acknowledge their contribution to our community," said STO President, Claude Bonhomme. OC Transpo and STO will observe two minutes of silence on Sunday November 11, at 11 a.m. Where it is safe to do so, buses will park on the side of the road and taps and reveille from the National ceremony will be broadcast over OC Transpo bus radios. OC Transpo operators who have served their country will be encouraged to wear their medals during that week. OC Transpo will run regular Sunday service on the 11th, and regular weekday service on Monday 12 November. STO will operate regular Sunday service on 11 November and a special service on Monday, 12 November. |
