OC Transpo Employees Honored at Annual TRANSECURE Awards


Ottawa
- OC Transpo employees who went above and beyond the call of duty in the year 2001 will be recognized tomorrow at the annual TRANSECURE Awards ceremony. The ceremony will also pay tribute to the Employee of the Year.

 TRANSECURE is the City of Ottawa’s community watch program on wheels.  Using their radios, bus drivers and train operators are linked through OC Transpo’s control centre to police and emergency services. In the last year, transit employees placed nearly 300 calls. OC Transpo employees are often the first on the scene when accidents happen, fires break out, or whenever someone is in need of assistance.

Mayor Bob Chiarelli will join Councillor Madeleine Meilleur - Chair of the Transportation and Transit Committee, Rosemarie Leclair - General Manager of Transportation, Utilities and Public Works, Gordon Diamond - Director of Transit Services, Chief Vince Bevan - Ottawa Police Service and senior officers from Ontario Provincial Police and Royal Canadian Mounted Police at the ceremony
