Ottawa
- Canada Day in the Capital is not to be missed and OC Transpo will
make getting to the celebrations that much easier with its carefree,
car-free travel downtown services. Canada Day celebrants are invited to
Park & Ride, or take transit all the way as parking in the centretown
area will be very limited due to street closures.
To begin the day of celebrations, leave your car at
home and take advantage of the
DayPass. A family of up to six people can travel together all day on
Sundays and holidays for only $5. This
is a convenient way to bring the whole family to Canada Day activities
whether the celebrations are Sunday, June 30 or Monday, July 1.
Regular fares are in effect all day on Canada Day
until 9:00 p.m, except for seniors attending the Mayor’s Breakfast which
will be able to ride free all day. Seniors can board by showing their
breakfast ticket.
After 9:00 p.m., passengers can ride free to and from
the downtown core area to attend the Canada Day celebrations.
Residents can also take the O-Train, which will also be free after
9:00 p.m. Take the
O‑Train northbound to Bayview station, and then travel to downtown
via the Transitway.
After the popular evening show and fireworks display,
the celebrants are invited to board
OC Transpo buses on Slater street for those heading east and on Albert
street for those heading west as the Mackenzie-King Bridge will be closed
to pedestrians and no passenger will be picked-up at the Rideau Centre bus
stop.
OC
Transpo DayPasses are available at 400 vendors throughout the City.
Trip planning and schedule information are available by phone at
741-4390, on the web at www.octranspo.com and by dialing 560‑1000
plus the bus stop number to reach OC Transpo’s automated schedule
information system.
