Ottawa
– This weekend’s
Food Drive, co-sponsored by Loblaws and the City of Ottawa, was a
tremendous success. 46, 934 food items were collected for the Food Bank. Cash and food voucher donations totalled just over $20,280.
“Loblaws
is happy to partner with the City to help our community’s less
fortunate. Thanks to our
store managers and their teams, we were able to collect $8,143 in food
vouchers to make up the $20,284 cash and food voucher totals for this
drive,” said Ellen Copeland, regional coordinator for Loblaws.
"We
would like to thank all the City’s volunteers, Loblaws employees, and
generous citizens who helped make this drive a success again this
year," said Peter Tilley, Executive Director of the Food Bank,
"this will certainly help us respond to the need over the holiday
season."
More
than 200 City employees and their families volunteered to receive
donations at 15 Loblaws stores throughout the City from 9 to 6 on
Saturday. Food donations were
also accepted on all OC Transpo and Para Transpo vehicles and on the
O-Train all day Saturday.
