Santa and Mayor Chiarelli kick off 19^th annual food drive

Ottawa – City Hall will welcome a very merry visitor when Santa Claus makes his annual visit to 110 Laurier Avenue West. However, for this visit, Santa will be making a pick-up instead of a delivery. He will receive food donations from Mayor Bob Chiarelli and City employees in preparation for Saturday’s Food Drive, co-sponsored by the City of Ottawa’s OC Transpo and Loblaws.

Location:               City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West (Lisgar Street entrance) 

On Saturday, December 6, more than 200 City of Ottawa employee volunteers and their families will be accepting food donations at all Loblaws stores from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Food donations can also be made all day on Ho Ho HOC Transpo buses, the Ho Ho HO-Train and Para Transpo vehicles.

Friday, December 5
2 p.m. – Santa pulls up at the Lisgar Street entrance of Ottawa City Hall in his OC Transpo bus to pick up the first food donations from the Mayor and City employees. 

Saturday, December 6
9 a.m. to 6 p.m. – Over 200 City of Ottawa volunteers collect food donations in OC Transpo buses at all area Loblaws stores (see attached list of stores). 

Monday, December 8
11 a.m. – Santa and Loblaws managers will be at the Food Bank, 1317B Michael Street, Ottawa, for the ceremonial unloading of the specially decorated Santa bus. The amount of food items donated will be announced at that time.
