OC Transpo

Southwest Transitway Extension opens December 13

·        The new Southwest Transitway will provide faster and more reliable service for the approximately 10,000 OC Transpo passengers who travel to and from Fallowfield Station along Woodroffe Avenue each weekday

·        With almost 6,000 of these daily commuters traveling that route during rush hour, the new bus-only roadway will reduce travel time for passengers and decrease traffic congestion on Woodroffe Avenue

·        The 3.2 km Transitway extension along the west site of Woodroffe Avenue north of Fallowfield Station cost $10 million, funded jointly by the City of Ottawa the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada

·        Bus service will be more reliable and predictable as buses will no longer have to contend with delays and congestion on Woodroffe Avenue - travel times during peak periods will be cut from six or more minutes down to three

·        Travel times to downtown from Fallowfiled Station during peak periods will be about 35 minutes making it a faster journey by bus than by car
