The new Southwest Transitway will provide faster and
more reliable service for the approximately 10,000 OC Transpo
passengers who travel to and from Fallowfield Station along
Woodroffe Avenue each weekday

With almost 6,000 of these daily commuters traveling
that route during rush hour, the new bus-only roadway will reduce
travel time for passengers and decrease traffic congestion on
Woodroffe Avenue

The 3.2 km Transitway extension along the west site of
Woodroffe Avenue north of Fallowfield Station cost $10 million,
funded jointly by the City of Ottawa the Province of Ontario and the
Government of Canada

Bus service will be more reliable and predictable as
buses will no longer have to contend with delays and congestion on
Woodroffe Avenue - travel times during peak periods will be cut from
six or more minutes down to three
·
Travel times to downtown from Fallowfiled Station
during peak periods will be about 35 minutes making it a faster
journey by bus than by car
