OC Transpo and Rideau Centre
offer free transit on New Year’s Eve after 10 p.m.

Ottawa – OC Transpo will once again be able to offer Ottawa residents free transit service after 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve due to the generosity of Rideau Centre.

“This free offer should help make our city safer by keeping more cars off the road on New Year's Eve,” said Councillor Janet Stavinga, Chair of the City of Ottawa’s Transportation Committee. “We're pleased that Rideau Centre has stepped up to help our city by supporting this worthwhile effort.”

“Rideau Centre is pleased to partner with OC Transpo on this important community initiative,” commented Cindy VanBuskirk, Director of Marketing and Leasing for Rideau Centre. “We encourage all holiday revellers to leave their cars at home on New Year’s Eve and keep our streets safe.”

More than 20,000 people are expected to let OC Transpo do the driving on New Year’s Eve.
OC Transpo routes 95, 96 and 97 run late at night, with the last trips leaving downtown between 2:30 and 3 a.m., while many other routes operate past midnight.
