Ottawa
– On
Sunday, September 3, new service improvements go into effect, the rapid
transit network will be expanded and seasonal schedule changes will be
implemented to meet the higher demand for transit in the fall.
The communities of Orléans,
Blackburn Hamlet, Stittsville and Kanata will have significant changes to
their transit service, including revisions to existing routes, increased
service and the addition of new routes.
Improvements will be made
to the rapid transit network with the addition of new route 94 serving Orléans
and Blackburn Hamlet via Innes Road. Route 99 will also be added to the
network and will be extended to Orléans and Tunney’s Pasture and
increased in frequency. As part of this change, route 99 will be
renumbered 101/102. In Kanata route 96 will offer some direct rush hour
trips to and from downtown that bypass Bayshore, while Stittsville will
see improvements to existing services and the introduction of a new
express route.
This fall, 32 new
low-floor accessible buses will be on the streets to help meet the growing
demand for increased transit. Thirty routes will see an increase in
service frequency over and above the normal seasonal increases.
Starting September 3,
route 117 will be reinstated to serve Carleton University and Algonquin
College, new routes 94, 101, 102 and 261 will be introduced and route 28
will be cancelled. New fall schedules also go into effect September 3 on
most routes and new printed timetables are available.
