OC Transpo customers get free ride on New Year’s Eve after 11 p.m.

Ottawa – OC Transpo is pleased to announce that Molson will be sponsoring free transit service after 11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, and extended Transitway service until 4 a.m.

“Let OC Transpo be your designated driver on New Year’s Eve,” encouraged Mayor Larry O’Brien. “Ottawa residents can make a responsible transportation choice with the help of Molson who has stepped up to support this worthy initiative.”

This year, more than 15,000 people are expected to take the safe way home with OC Transpo on New Year’s Eve. OC Transpo routes 95, 96 and 97 will be extended to run until after 4 a.m., with the last trips leaving downtown around 3:50 a.m., while many other routes operate past midnight.

“This will end another record year for OC Transpo ridership,” added Alain Mercier, Director of Transit Services. “This is a free and easy way to enjoy transit in a secure and safe environment.”
