Proof of Payment

Proof of payment on Articulated Buses

Did you know that all articulated (long) buses are POP (proof of payment) buses?
Articulated bus

If you ride a POP bus or the O-Train, you MUST have proof of payment:

  • Transit pass
  • ECOPASS
  • DayPass
  • Transfer
  • O-Train ticket (O-Train only)

You can also transfer to STO bus service in Gatineau and downtown Ottawa using your OC Transpo pass or transfer.

O-Train POP Zone

O-Train station platforms are a POP Zone and you must have proof of payment . Transit pass, DayPass, Bus Transfer, and a $2.25 O-Train Ticket are accepted as valid fare on the O-Train. (Bus tickets are not accepted as valid O-Train fare.)

O-Train tickets can be purchased from the vending machine at the station entrance. The O-Train POP Zone does not apply to children age 11 and under.

Board buses by the front door, if you pay with cash, bus tickets, O-Train ticket, top up a pass, DayPass or bus transfer.

Keep your POP receipt for the duration of your trip—it is your proof of payment.

Pass holders may board buses by the rear doors. Back-door boarding speeds up service by getting more people on board quickly. Only customers who have a monthly or annual pass may board a POP bus by the back doors.

Be prepared for fare inspection

You may be asked to show proof of payment at any time. You must show proof of payment to Operators, Transit Fare Enforcement Officers and Transit Law Enforcement Officers upon request. Anyone unable to provide proof of payment may be fined $150.00
