Clear View

Safety is always a top priority which is why we've implemented
the new “Clear View to the Right” policy on all buses.

Please Move Back

The “Clear View to the Right” policy requires that operators must have a clear view to the right while the bus is in motion. This is not only a policy of OC Transpo and other transit companies, but a requirement of the Highway Traffic Act. Operators must clearly see the front door of the bus and the side mirror for obvious safety reasons. This means that if you’re standing, you’ll need to stay back from the front area of the bus.

A line will be painted on the floor near the front of bus to serve as a guide. Please stand behind this line while the bus is in motion. It will take some time for the lines to be painted on all the buses, but this does not affect the implementation date of this policy.

If you are standing near the front of the bus, operators will be asking you to move back so their line of sight is clear. If the bus is crowded, the operator will ask anyone standing to move to the back to make room for more customers and to maintain a clear view. Our goal is to get everyone on board without compromising safety.

Please cooperate by moving back and keeping the front of the bus clear.
