O-Train
Safety & Emergency Features
|
|
The O-Train is equipped with many safety and emergency features.
In an emergency, please follow the operator’s or emergency personnel’s instructions.
|
|
|
|
Emergency personnel are trained to deal with an O-Train emergency and are equipped with maps and diagrams. Our Control Centre can pinpoint each train’s movement with our Global Positioning Satellite system, enabling them to send assistance to a train’s precise location.

Emergency Exit
In the event of an evacuation, proceed calmly to an exit door. Leave bicycles,
strollers and large packages behind. If the door will not open
electronically, it can be opened manually by pulling the door release
mechanism next to the door and then prying open the door with your hands.
|
|
If
the doors
are not accessible, use any window on the train as an exit. The windows
can be broken with one of the twelve red hammers on the train.
When you exit, move away from the train and the tracks. The tracks are
not electrified as the train is diesel-powered, but they are not a safe
place to be.
On the train
exterior, we’ve identified the accessible seating area so that
emergency personnel can quickly find and assist customers with a
mobility disability.

Emergency
Stop
The emergency brake should never be used unless there is an emergency that requires the train to stop. The brake is located near each door. To activate the brake, simply pull the red handle down. The brake is partially covered with a clear shield to prevent someone accidentally pulling the handle.
Emergency Intercom
If there is a situation on the train such as a passenger illness, a lost child, or a suspicious or threatening person, do not hesitate to use the intercom, located near each door, to contact the operator.
|
|
Emergency Instructions
In several locations on the train, you’ll find emergency instructions and a diagram showing the layout of the train, exits and emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers.
Remember, misuse of emergency equipment is a serious offence, punishable by law.
