Since its inception in 1973, OC Transpo was administered by the Ottawa-Carleton Regional Transit Commission, a branch of regional government.

OC Transpo operations is now managed by the City Transportation and Public Works, Transit & Infrustructure Services Committee.

Elected representatives from across the City form the Public Works, Transit & Infrastructure Services Committee, which oversee OC Transpo's budget and operation.
