Return to school - We’re ready for you
OC Transpo will be there for students and parents to provide service to Ottawa high schools and middle schools in early September. This includes the 600-series bus routes and special school service on some regular bus routes.
As schools adjust for COVID-19, trip times may change to accommodate school start and end times or to better match ridership. You can easily plan a trip to your school on the Destinations page, as well as find links to your school’s website and maps of our special school service. Some details are still being finalized so be sure to keep checking before the start of school.
We are working closely with all four school boards, Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA) and Consortium de Transport Scolaire d’Ottawa (CTSO) on this year’s back to school plans. Our service is based on the most recent information and we will make all the necessary changes in time to get students to school and back, including:
- Matching changes to bell times and school start dates
- Adding additional midday trips to accommodate early end times
- Continuing to run regularly planned service where required to accommodate full-day learning
- Having buses on standby and monitoring crowding on school routes every day to ensure space for all students
We know that some students who receive a Presto card from their school board won’t be able to pick it up before school starts. A grace period will be provided for anyone who does not have a Presto card yet. Rest assured that bus operators and O-Train Ambassadors will let you get on the bus or train—just let them know you’re a student and have not picked up your Presto card yet.

Keeping you safer
We understand that many parents and students are feeling anxious about many aspects of the return to school. We can assure you that OC Transpo will be there to make your trip as safe as possible. In collaboration with Ottawa Public Health, we continue to make public transit as safe as possible for everyone with mandatory masks for all customers, enhanced cleaning, hand sanitizer dispensers in stations and protective shields around bus operators.
