O-Train Line 1 weekday capacity increasing

Starting Thursday, May 14: Weekday O-Train Line 1 capacity will start to ramp up again. What this means:

• Some two-car trains have been added. Some trains will still have only one car.
• Frequency and hours of operation will stay the same. During peak periods, service is every 3 to 4 minutes.
• Single-car trains don’t take up the full platform. If your train only has one car, you'll need to board towards the front of the train.
• Lines 2 and 4 are not affected. Their service will run as usual.

Since January, O-Train Line 1 has been running only single-car trains on weekdays. Because of issues with cartridge bearing assembly (CBA) units on trains, trains were removed from service to be inspected. As these issues are addressed, two-car trains can return to service.

We now expect that full Line 1 capacity will be restored by mid-June 2026.  

We're working closely with Alstom, Rideau Transit Group (RTG), and external experts to ensure the gradual return of Line 1 service is safe and sustainable for customers and staff. Thank you for your patience.
