Key takeaways
- Para Transpo Talk brings Para Transpo customers, their families, companions and support persons together for meaningful discussions and updates with OC Transpo staff.
- Para Transpo Talk participated in Adapt Expo and AccessAbility Day in May.
This May, the OC Transpo Customer Care team brought Para Transpo Talk to two community events: Adapt Expo on May 9 and AccessAbility Day on May 29.
These events provided opportunities for Para Transpo customers, their families, companions, support persons, and community organizations to connect directly with the Customer Care team, ask questions, share feedback, and learn more about the services and tools that support accessible travel across Ottawa.
We had a great time hearing from customers and talking about all things Para Transpo! These events provide meaningful opportunities to learn and to connect directly with the people we serve, and we look forward to each one.
If you weren't able to join us this time, don't worry! The Next Stop Blog is here to fill you in on the highlights.
Adapt Expo
Members of the Customer Care team were on hand at Adapt Expo at Carleton University to answer questions about Para Transpo services, eligibility, booking options, fares, and accessible travel.
Visitors also had the opportunity to view one of our new seven-metre Para Transpo minibuses, speak with a Para Transpo Operator, and learn more about the features of the new vehicle.
AccessAbility Day
The Customer Care team participated in AccessAbility Day at City Hall, an annual event that celebrates accessibility awareness and highlights programs and services that support people with disabilities.
Throughout the day, the team spoke with customers, caregivers, members of Council, community agencies, and advocacy groups about accessible transportation and the important role Para Transpo plays in helping residents stay connected to work, school, medical appointments, recreation, and community activities.
Many conversations focused on improving customer experience, enhancing accessibility features across the transit network, and identifying opportunities to strengthen collaboration with community organizations.
What we heard
Among the many topics we spoke about at these events, a few topics were particularly popular.
Four free trips per month for seniors
This Para Transpo fare benefit was introduced in 2026. Seniors aged 65 and older who use a registered Presto card and pay per trip are eligible to receive a credit for up to four free Para Transpo trips each month. The credit is applied automatically to Presto cards in the following month. Find more information on the Para Transpo fares page.
