Protecting the health and safety of our staff and our customers is OC Transpo’s top priority. We work closely with Ottawa Public Health (OPH) and the City of Ottawa’s Office of Emergency Management to proactively track and quickly respond to incidents of COVID-19 among OC Transpo staff. To protect the privacy of the individuals, we are not releasing their names.
As soon as we receive confirmation that an OC Transpo employee tests positive for COVID-19, we take the following steps:
- OC Transpo works directly with OPH to conduct contact tracing of individuals who have, or may have been, in close contact with the employee. OPH has advised that the key dates are the period 48 hours prior to the first day an individual has shown symptoms.
- OPH follows up with family and friends who may have been in close contact with the individual.
- OC Transpo contacts our employees who may have come into close contact with the employee during those key dates.
- OC Transpo identifies which vehicles or facilities require sanitization over and above the enhanced cleaning processes currently in place.
