Better Bus Stops Project: Carling Avenue

Better Bus Stops Banner

Improvements are proposed at several bus stops along Carling Avenue between Sir John A. MacDonald Parkway and Bayshore Drive as part of the Better Bus Stops program. We invite customers to provide feedback on the project through our online questionnaire.

These changes will affect customers travelling on Routes 11, 51, 57, 85, 153 and 154.

Your feedback regarding proposed bus stop locations is important. It will help us improve the bus stops along this section of Carling Avenue.

Since 2018, the Better Bus Stops Project has been successfully implemented on St. Laurent Boulevard, MacArthur Avenue, Merivale Road, Innes Road, and Montréal Road.

Bus stop changes

Walking distances to bus stops

The bus stop changes are in line with our goal to provide access to transit within a 400 m (or 5-minute) walk.

  • Some customers will have a slightly shorter walk
  • Some customers will have a slightly longer walk

Accessibility

All new stop locations feature accessible boarding and alighting areas. Some stops will receive upgraded passenger waiting areas for improved maneuverability of persons using strollers or mobility aids. These changes will also facilitate the deployment of bus ramps.

Faster and more reliable trips

Some bus stops are being consolidated or relocated to provide faster travel times and more reliable trips. Bus bays are being removed, or stops are being relocated out of bus bays, to give more priority to transit along Carling Avenue.

Give feedback on this project

The Better Bus Stops Project works with neighbourhoods to improve the location and accessibility of bus stops and shelters. Walking distance, trip reliability, and customer comfort and safety influence the location of bus stops along the route.
