Canada Day service

In-person festivities are returning this Canada Day, Friday, July 1! This will also be O-Train Line 1's first large Canada Day celebration since being in operation.

To celebrate, there will be no-charge service all day (until 4 am) on OC Transpo buses, O-Train Line 1, and Para Transpo.

  • O-Train Line 1 will operate on a special Canada Day schedule with increased evening frequency.
  • Buses will operate on a Sunday schedule, with additional buses available on busy routes throughtout the day and after the fireworks.
  • Para Transpo will be offering extended service.
  • Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) will also be providing no-charge service to and from Gatineau.

Summer service change

Summer service begins Sunday, June 26, 2022. Use the Travel Planner or view the route schedules to check if your regular trips are affected.

  • Portions of the Transitway, (between Tunney's Pasture and Dominion stations, and from Iris Street to Navaho Drive) will close permanently as part of Stage 2 construction.
  • School service will be removed for the duration of the summer.
  • Weekend service to summer destinations (Canada Aviation and Space Museum, Petrie Island, and the Canada Agriculture Museum) will return.

You may soon notice some changes to the look of fare readers on OC Transpo buses. We’re beginning to install new, red smartcard fare readers across our bus fleet. This is in preparation to offer you the ability to pay for fares with credit cards and mobile wallet in the future.

Return to shared rides on Para Transpo

As ridership levels continue to increase on Para Transpo, we are returning to normal operations, including shared trips, when necessary.

Staff will continue to schedule trips as efficiently as possible to ensure customers’ needs are being met.

Ottawa Public Health strongly encourages use of masks on transit

The Province of Ontario has announced the provincial mask requirement on public transit will end on Saturday, June 11. Ottawa Public Health continues to strongly encourage everyone to wear masks on buses, trains, Para Transpo minibuses and taxis, and in stations and shelters. OC Transpo continues to follow public health advice.
