Rack & Roll

Rack & Roll is OC Transpo's program to put bike racks on buses, so now transit riders can bring their bicycles with them.

Take your bike with you and leave the driving to us.

Racks are installed on over 200 buses, including all articulated buses and on routes: 2, 85, 95, 96, 97, 101, 118 and 145.

It's good exercise and also good for the environment. Each rack holds 2 bikes and has easy loading and unloading features...

        Loading Instructions...

Racks are available on a first-come, first-served basis and some trips may not have a bike rack. If this is the case, please wait for the next bus.

There's no cost to use the rack, just your usual bus fare.

  • Service to downtown and across the city with easy access to most large employment centres and major destinations

Sharing the Road with Buses

Buses and bikes are considered equal under the Highway Traffic Act, but a ten ton bus is harder to stop than a 15 kg bike.

Here are some tips from Citizens for Safe Cycling and OC Transpo to help make your cycling trip more enjoyable!

  • Before you start, ensure your bike is in good shape and don't forget your helmet!

  • Ride by the same rules as motorists, use signals and abide by the posted signage.

  • Avoid riding in the blind spots at the sides and rear of the bus where the driver cannot see you.

  • Stay well back and on the left side of the bus and remember that buses stop often.

  • Always pass a bus on the left and don't get trapped between the bus and the curb.

  • Allow plenty of room when passing a bus.

  • Be bright at night! Use a headlight, tail-light, reflectors and light-coloured clothing so that drivers can see you.

  • Take a defensive cycling course from EnviroCentre.
