Senior fares must be paid with a Presto card. Discounted fares, including Senior fares, cannot be paid by cash.

Free ride on Wednesdays and Sundays for seniors
Seniors 65+ can ride free on OC Transpo buses and the O-Train on Wednesdays and Sundays.
This offer does not apply to Para Transpo.
You will need a Presto card set with a Senior discount to ride free. You may be asked for proof of age.
Riding transit on a Wednesday or a Sunday
Tap your Presto card set with a Senior discount on the fare reader or fare gate and you won’t be charged a fare on Wednesdays and Sundays. You must tap your Presto card to ride for free.
Buying a Presto card with a Senior discount
You can buy a new card ($4.00) or set the Senior discount on an existing card at:
- The Rideau OC Transpo Customer Service Centre
- A participating Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaws or Real Canadian Superstore location.
If you buy your card at one of these locations, you can load it with as little or as much as you want.
Anyone can buy a Presto card with an age-based discount. You can buy it for yourself or on behalf of an eligible person. You must qualify to use the card with a discounted fare. You also need to carry proof of your age when you ride.
There is no fee to apply a Senior discount on a card you have previously bought.
