An accessibility page that doesn’t get in your way

Image - An accessibility page that doesn’t get in your way

✨ It‘s another page built by riders for riders.

Whether you use a wheelchair, navigate by sound, need extra time, or support someone who does—this page was designed for you, with you.

Find what you need, at your own pace
Open your phone. Find what's available. Know how to ride. Get help if you need it. That's the promise behind our completely redesigned Accessibility page.
Because everyone deserves to travel confidently—without searching, guessing, or waiting. Whether it takes you 30 seconds or more, the information is there when you need it, in a way that works for you.

We didn't just ask. We listened.

Five riders opened up about their real experiences: what frustrates them, what helps them, what they wish existed. A mobility device user. Someone who's blind. A person who's deaf. A neurodivergent rider. A caregiver who knows the system inside out. Their voices shaped every choice we made.

From there, we consulted with experts: CNIB consultants, our accessibility specialists, customer service teams who answer thousands of calls each month, and communications professionals who make complex information easy to understand. We looked at the best accessibility pages from top airlines, major transit systems, and public services across North America and Europe. We studied everything from how they organize information to the words they use to how the pages look and feel.

But the riders? They were our north star.

What makes it different?

This isn't just a refresh. It's a complete rethink of how accessibility information should work.

 • Task-first, not topic-first.Start by seeing what's available at a glance. Learn how the features work for your ride. Get help and support when you need it. Everything flows in the order you'd actually use it.
 • Mobile-optimized and scannable. Large tap targets. Clear headings. Sections that make sense at a glance. Because you're often checking this while standing at a stop or sitting on a moving bus.
 • High-contrast mode. For the first time on our site, riders with low vision or colour blindness, or anyone using this page in bright light or at night, can switch to a high-contrast view with one click. It’s a small feature that makes a big difference.
 • Plain, natural language shaped by feedback from riders with lived experience. Every sentence was written to be understood, not just read.

And if you can't find what you need? Our accessibility specialists are just one click away.

This is part of our ongoing work

Redesigning a page is one thing; making our transit system work for everyone is an ongoing journey.

This page is part of a bigger commitment. The initiatives included in both our Accessibility Plan and the City of Ottawa’s Municipal Accessibility Plan outline how we’re identifying, reducing, and removing barriers across every part of your journey.

Because when transit works for everyone, the whole city moves better.
