April 17, 2025: No-charge transit service on May 3 and 4

The purpose of this memo is to advise the Mayor and Members of Council that OC Transpo will be offering transit service at no charge the weekend of Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4, 2025.

OC Transpo launched O-Train Lines 2 and 4 on January 6 through a phased opening. On April 27, the network will be transformed with New Ways to Bus. To thank customers and encourage residents to try the new system and explore their city, OC Transpo is offering a weekend of no-charge service on buses, O-Train Lines 1, 2 and 4, and Para Transpo on May 3 and 4.

As part of the no-charge service weekend, OC Transpo staff will be hosting a fun, interactive event at Hurdman Station on Saturday, May 3, between 10 am and 2 pm. The event will engage with customers about new services, customer experience improvements, safety initiatives, and more!

Details of the no-charge service weekend will be shared over the coming days through OC Transpo’s customer communications channels, including octranspo.com, social media, posters in stations, and advertisements, as well as through a public service announcement. Customers requiring assistance with trip planning can use OC Transpo’s Travel Planner or the Transit app or contact the Customer Service Centre at 613-560-5000.
