At the March 18 Transit Commission, we announced that New Ways to Bus are coming to Ottawa, which will change the ways that we travel using public transit.
Providing frequent, local, and connected service throughout the city, the redesigned bus network responds to changes in customers’ travel needs and ridership levels. The launch of the New Ways to Bus network is planned to follow the opening of O-Train Lines 2 and 4 in the south, connecting that part of the city by rail and opening up new convenient connections across the city, while also accommodating the opening of future O-Train extensions.
To help guide you through upcoming changes to the bus network and answer your burning questions, we’re introducing our newest blog series – Your Future Journey. Keep reading to learn more!

Your Future Journey will be the first stop to find out how your trips will change with the introduction of the new bus network.
In this blog series, we’ll explore the changes that are coming with New Ways to Bus, learn about why and how we’re making these changes to the network, and preview what public transit will look like in different neighbourhoods once the new network is available. With 27 Frequent Routes, 17 new routes, and tons of local connections to community hubs and O-Train stations, there will be no shortage of exciting and important information coming your way.
We’ll also be going behind-the-scenes to explore some of the work that goes into creating a new bus network, including how new routes are developed, the thoughtful design of bus stops, how we monitor trends in ridership, and more!
We want to hear from you!
Of course, this new blog series wouldn’t be complete without one final piece – you! The purpose of Your Future Journey is to reflect and enhance the experiences of our customers, so once you’ve checked out New Ways to Bus, we’d love to hear your perspectives.

2025 review
Remember when the O-Train extensions were just plans? 2025 changed everything.
We opened Lines 2 & 4 (hello, airport rail link!), powered up the East Extension for testing, rolled out the West’s first train, and completed station after station.
This is the story of how Ottawa moved toward a tripled rail network in one landmark year.

OttaTalk
The OttaTalk team invited transit leaders into the studio to talk about Ottawa’s busiest room — the TOCC.
Hosts interviewed Director Joel Lemieux and Manager Brad Tubman about the command centre that handles 400,000 calls each year:
no windows, but eyes on the entire city.
