April Fools: Electric Avenue now playing on electric buses as part of awareness initiative
April Fools! We won’t actually be playing that catchy tune on board but something real is coming your way:
More Electric buses are rolling out across Ottawa! Keep an eye out as the future of clean transit hits the streets.
Have you ridden one of our newest electric buses yet?
Many customers are unknowingly travelling throughout Ottawa riding on our newest electric vehicles.
OC Transpo’s electric buses fleet continues to grow, with 14 vehicles currently serving customers throughout the city.
"With every trip, OC Transpo is moving toward a quieter, cleaner, and more sustainable Ottawa — one bus at a time."
Beyond the new bus smell, there are some distinct features such as:
Interior customer information displays
A distinct white exterior destination sign for improved accessibility
Less noise thanks to the electric motors
To help build awareness of our electric buses, OC Transpo is piloting a new innovative measure to ensure you know that you are travelling on an electric bus.
Until further notice,"Electric Avenue" by Eddy Grant will be playing inside and outside our electric buses. Regarded as one of the top songs of 1981, this song has stood the test of time—similar to our electric buses, which first hit the streets of Ottawa in 2022 and have exceeded our expectations.
Learn more about our electric buses—how many are on the road, our fleet conversion plan, and the benefits of going electric.
