Trim Road at Highway 174 - Road Closure, Lane Reductions - August 9, 10
As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, motorists travelling on Trim Road north and south of the Highway 174 interchange as well as eastbound and westbound on Highway 174 should anticipate impacts to traffic as crews complete necessary construction activities.
What:
Full closure of Trim Road south of Highway 174 to the northernmost traffic circle. Trim Road north of Highway 174 will remain open with Duty Officers in place to direct traffic to westbound Highway 174. There will also be short lane reductions on Highway 174 eastbound and westbound at the Trim Road interchange.
The following ramps will be closed:
- Highway 174 westbound off-ramp at Trim Road
- Highway 174 eastbound on-ramp from northbound Trim Road
- Highway 174 westbound on-ramp from northbound Trim Road
When:
Saturday, August 9 and Sunday, August 10 from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
Why:
Milling, manhole adjustments, and final paving.
Where:
Trim Road at the Highway 174 interchange.
The construction work outlined in this notice is subject to change. Work may be delayed or extended due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Detours
- Motorists travelling westbound on Highway 174 looking to access Trim Road will exit at Tenth Line Road.
- Residents in the Trim Road area south of Highway 174 looking to connect to Highway 174 eastbound will travel east on Old Montreal Road to connect to Highway 174 eastbound at Cameron Street. Alternatively, they can travel to the Tenth Line Road interchange and connect to eastbound Highway 174.
- Residents in the Trim Road area south of Highway 174 looking to connect to Highway 174 westbound will travel to the Tenth Line Road interchange to connect to Highway 174 westbound.
Anticipated Impacts
Residents near the interchange can expect the following construction activities to take place:
- Excavators, Compactors, and pavers will be used for construction. Noise from equipment will be audible and some equipment may cause vibrations.
- Trucks will deliver material to the site and haul material away. Noise from equipment and moving of material will be audible.
- Asphalt will be laid which may result in audible noise and some vibration from equipment.
- Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change.
- Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and adhere to posted signage when localized detours are in-place to ensure safety.
