SPIRIT TRAINS IN TRANSIT

Powerful, modern, and fast

The name “SPIRIT” refers to the Alstom Citadis Spirit Light Rail Transit (LRT), a 100% low-floor light-rail vehicle customized for North American conditions.

We received 34 train cars for the initial Line 1 launch, from Blair to Tunney's Pasture. With the Line 1 East extension coming soon, we now have 56  train cars in our fleet.  Sixteen more will be added for the O-Train West Extension.

Train doors

Opening the train doors

  • When the train arrives at the station, doors usually open automatically.
  • In some situations (few riders or bad weather), you must open the doors manually by pushing the green button.

Steps to open manually:

  • Listen for an audio message indicating the train has arrived.
  • Look for the green button on the door and press it to open.

Closing the train doors

  • The light above the door will turn red.
  • The button on the door will turn red.
  • A chime sound will play.

Important reminders:

  • Do not hold or block the doors; this delays the train. Wait for the next train, which comes every 5 minutes or less during peak periods.
  • Ensure your items (backpacks, bags, etc.) are fully inside the train so the doors can close properly. If something is blocking the doors, the train cannot depart.
