Alternating Overnight and Weekend Lane Closures on Somerset Street West

As part of the Stage 2 O-Train South Extension Project, overpass fencing will be installed on Somerset Street West over the O-Train line. This work will require alternating overnight and weekend lane closures on Somerset Street West with flaggers and spotters present.
WHAT:
Overpass fencing will be installed on both sides of Somerset Street West. The installation will require lane closures on either side of Somerset Street West. Alternating bicycle lane closures are also required as part of this work.
WHEN:
This work is scheduled to happen overnight from 11:00PM to 6:00AM Monday to Friday and 7:00AM to 7:00PM on weekends from April 9th to April 21st. This schedule is subject to change.
WHY:
The overpass fencing is being installed to protect the public from accessing the active train line. The work zone will be protected with with lane closures, flaggers, and spotters so that crews can stage their equipment and work safely. This work is scheduled to take place at night and on the weekends in order to minimize disruptions to the public.
WHERE:
The map below shows the area where the alternating lane closures are to happen, just east of Breezehill Avenue North on the bridge over the O-Train Line.

ANTICIPATED IMPACTS:
People operating vehicles should be aware of signage approaching the work zone and obey all instructions from flaggers and spotters.
Cyclists and pedestrians should be aware of signage approaching the work zone.
Cyclists can continue on Somerset Street West and, when required, travel in a single file lane which is to be shared with vehicles.
Pedestrians shall obey the instructions of flaggers and spotters as they travel on the sidewalk.
Access to the Trillium Multi-Use Path will be maintained at all times.
ACCESSIBILITY:
Accessibility is an important consideration for the Stage 2 LRT project. All pedestrian, cycling, bus, and vehicular movements will generally be maintained during construction, with some detours. Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution when localized detours are in place and adhere to all posted signage when travelling to ensure safety, as patterns may have changed.
