Subject

O-Train service adjustments in August

Date

August 5, 2025

The purpose of this memo is to inform the Mayor and Members of Council of service adjustments required on O-Train Line 1 in August, as well as to provide an update on ongoing work on Line 2.

O-Train Line 1 works

To allow for Stage 2 East Extension integration work, Line 1 will operate between Tunney’s Pasture and Tremblay Stations on August 16 and 17 with R1 service operating between Hurdman and Blair stations. Line 1 service will start at noon on August 31, with R1 running from Tunney’s Pasture to Blair stations in the morning.

Calendar of O-Train Line 1 adjustments

Testing and Commissioning work has been progressing well during the summer. This progress has allowed us to connect key systems to the existing Line 1 segment, including the closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV), remote supervisory and control system, intrusion access system and update software on all trains in the fleet. This progress allows the training and familiarization for electric rail operators to advance, and customers and residents can expect to see more trains operating on the east alignment as a result.

To reduce the number of disruptions to customers, OC Transpo and Infrastructure and Water Services Department (IWSD) have worked together to coordinate work identified as part of the Ontario Structure Inspection Manual (OSIM) inspections in the St-Laurent tunnel to also take place at the same time as Stage 2 activities during the weekend of August 16 to 17.

Customers are encouraged to use the Travel Planner and Transit app to plan their trips. Customers can also visit octranspo.com for travel planning assistance or call 613-560-5000.

Information, reminders, and updates will be communicated to customers through various channels, including public service announcements, customer alerts, social media updates, signage at Line 1 stations, and on octranspo.com.

It is anticipated that there will be additional impacts to Line 1 in September as the O-Train East Extension testing and commissioning advances. More information on specific service adjustments will be provided closer to those dates.

O-Train Line 2 monitoring equipment installation

The work to install an axle bearing monitoring system on O-Train Line 2 near South Keys Station is underway and progressing well. Rail service continues along Lines 2 and 4. In order for the work to be completed safely, customers should expect Line 2 to operate every 24 minutes after 8 pm on August 11 to 15. Customers will be provided with updates prior to each work period beginning. Other construction activities that do not impact service are expected to continue until the end of August.

Calendar of O-Train Line 2 adjustments

OC Transpo understands and appreciates the disruption that these service adjustments will cause and thanks customers for their ongoing patience as these important works are implemented.
