New Orchard Avenue at Richmond Road - Sidewalk Closure - Sept. 10-22

As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, a section of the sidewalk on New Orchard Avenue between Richmond Road and Ambleside Drive will be closed. A pedestrian detour will be in place.

What:     
Long-term closure of the sidewalk on New Orchard Avenue between Richmond Road and Ambleside Drive.

When:    
Wednesday, September 10 at 6 a.m. until Monday, September 22.

Why:      
Removal of materials and preparation of subgrade for upcoming road works.

Where:   
New Orchard Avenue between Richmond Road and Ambleside Drive.

Pedestrians travelling southbound on New Orchard Avenue toward Richmond Road will follow Ambleside Drive westbound until reaching McEwen Avenue. They will continue south on McEwen Avenue until reaching Richmond Road.

Pedestrians wishing to access New Orchard Avenue from Richmond Road will proceed west on Richmond Road until reaching McEwen Avenue. They will continue north on McEwen Avenue until reaching Ambleside Drive where they will proceed eastbound until reaching New Orchard Avenue.

Anticipated Impacts
Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and adhere to posted signage when localized detours are in-place, to ensure safety.

Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change.

The safety of the public and workers is paramount,
