Notice of Traffic Reconfiguration: Richmond Road between Carling Avenue and Cleary Avenue
As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, patterns will be reconfigured on Richmond Road and Byron Avenue between Carling Avenue and Cleary Avenue. Local access/driveway access will continue to be maintained for all businesses and residents in the area. The new traffic configuration will be in place from Monday, May 12 until the end of December 2025.
To complete the reconfiguration, a full closure of Richmond Road will be required from Friday, May 9 to Monday, May 12. Please review this entire notice for important detour information during this closure.
Once Richmond Road is re-opened on Monday, May 12, motor vehicle traffic will follow the routes outlined in the map below.

Full closure of Richmond Road: Friday, May 9 at 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Monday, May 12.

Utilities replacement, asphalt removal, grading, paving and traffic reconfiguration.

Traffic pattern changes: Richmond Road between Carling Avenue and Cleary Avenue
- Richmond Road between McEwen Avenue and Richardson Avenue will re-open to traffic in both directions.
- Richmond Road between Richardson Avenue and New Orchard Avenue will remain closed throughout 2025.
- The Ambleside Drive detour for eastbound traffic on Richmond Road will no longer be required.
- McEwen Avenue and Ambleside Drive will be open to local traffic and bus traffic only.
- New Orchard Avenue will be fully closed to traffic between Richmond Road and McEwen Avenue.
- Richmond Road between New Orchard Avenue and Allison Avenue will be closed. Driveway access will be maintained for all businesses and residents.
- Two-way traffic on Richmond Road will be redirected to Byron Avenue between Richardson Avenue and Cleary Avenue.
- The section of Richmond Road south of Cleary Avenue will be closed to complete the removal of the temporary bridge over the Byron/Parkway tunnel. Driveway access will be maintained for all businesses and residents.
- Temporary access roads will be opened along Byron Avenue between Richardson Avenue and Cleary Avenue to connect motorists, pedestrians and cyclists with businesses and residences located on Richmond Road.

Pedestrian Pathways and Driveway Access: New Orchard Avenue to Woodroffe Avenue

Detour: Richmond Road full closure from Carling Avenue to Woodroffe Avenue (May 9-12)

Motorists wishing to travel eastbound on Richmond Road will follow Carling Avenue eastbound to Woodroffe Avenue. They will turn left onto Woodroffe Avenue and continue north until reconnecting with Richmond Road.
Motorists wishing to travel westbound on Richmond Road will proceed south on Woodroffe Avenue to Carling Avenue. They will turn right onto Carling Avenue and continue westbound until reconnecting with Richmond Road.
Access to 1190 and 1140 Richmond Road (May 9-12)

Motorists wishing to access 1190 Richmond Road will travel north on Edgeworth Avenue from Carling Avenue. To reach the property, they will turn left onto a temporary access road located to the south of the Richmond Road/Edgeworth Avenue intersection. Two-way traffic will be maintained on the temporary access road.
Motorists wishing to access 1140 Richmond Road will travel north on Edgeworth Avenue from Carling Avenue until reaching Richmond Road. They will proceed east on Richmond Road until reaching 1140 Richmond Road. To exit the property, residents will turn right onto Richmond Road and proceed east until reaching Byron Avenue. Traffic on Richmond Road will be one-way only in the eastbound direction.
Anticipated Impacts
Residents on Edgeworth Avenue are advised that the concrete lock blocks located at the north end of the street preventing through traffic from Edgeworth Avenue to Richmond Road, will be removed during the full closure of Richmond Road from May 9 to May 12. This is necessary to maintain driveway access for residents of 1190 and 1140 Richmond Road. Residents may notice a moderate increase in traffic volumes on Edgeworth Avenue between May 9 and May 12. Following the completion of the full closure of Richmond Road on May 12, the lock blocks will be replaced.
Local access/driveway access will be maintained for all businesses and residences on Richmond Road and Byron Avenue between Carling Avenue and Cleary Avenue.
Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change.
Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and adhere to posted signage when localized detours are in-place, to ensure safety.
