April - Notice of Tree Removal: Kichi Zìbì Mìkan Between Wavell Avenue and Westminster Avenue

As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, select trees will be removed along the Kichi Zìbì Mìkan (KZM) between Wavell Avenue and Westminster Avenue. All tree removals in this area have been approved by the National Capital Commission (NCC) and are pending the completion of bat and migratory bird surveys. Efforts have been made to minimize the number of trees being removed and any trees removed will be replaced by new plantings at the conclusion of the project.

What:      

Tree removal along the Kichi Zìbì Mìkan.

When:    

Monday, April 1 at 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. until work is complete (expected by mid-April).

The construction work outlined in this notice is subject to change. Work may be delayed or extended due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Why:       

Multi-use pathway construction and roadworks preparation for the permanent configuration of the Kichi Zìbì Mìkan.

Where:   

Kichi Zìbì Mìkan between Wavell Avenue and Westminster Avenue.

Anticipated Impacts

Work crews will be accessing the work site from the existing construction site in this area.

Noise from trucks and equipment will be audible.

Residents should expect some truck traffic as trees are removed from the area.

Dust resulting from the removal of trees may be present in the vicinity of the work site.

Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and adhere to posted signage when localized detours are in-place, to ensure safety. Motor vehicle traffic is not expected to be impacted.

The safety of the public and workers is paramount, and we thank you for your patience during construction.
