As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, motorists travelling Highway 174 westbound from Trim Road to Champlain Street should anticipate impacts to traffic as crews complete necessary construction activities.

What:           
Highway 174 westbound from Trim Road to Champlain Street will be fully closed.

When:         
Friday, May 17 at 9:00 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Monday, May 20.

Why:           
Realignment of Highway 174 and paving work.

Where:          
Highway 174 westbound from Trim Road to Champlain Street.

The construction work outlined in this notice is subject to change. Work may be delayed or extended due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Detour
Motorists travelling westbound on Highway 174 will exit at Trim Road and continue southbound until they reach St. Joseph Boulevard. They will then use the roundabout to proceed west on St. Joseph Boulevard to Place d’Orléans Drive where they will turn right and continue on Place d’Orléans Drive until reaching Champlain Street. They will then turn left on Champlain Street and continue north until reaching the westbound Highway 174 on-ramp. Detour signage will be in place to assist motorists.

Anticipated Impacts

  • Excavation and grading that could include use of excavators, bulldozers, and compactors.
  • Trucks bringing granular material and hauling away excavated materials may be visible and noise from equipment will be audible.
  • Asphalt being laid which may result in audible noise and some vibration from equipment.
  • Site lighting will be in place for overnight work.

Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change.
