New way to pay at Line 1 stations

You can now tap to pay with your credit card and smartphone mobile wallet at specially marked white fare gates of all O-Train Line 1 stations. Only single-ride Adult fares will be charged at these gates during the trial period, and no transfer will be issued.

Tap to pay with:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • Google Pay
  • Apple Pay

No-charge service for children 7 and under

Children ages 6 and 7 now also qualify for no-charge child fares. When transit fares return on Jan. 1, all children ages 0–7 will be eligible for a no-charge ride. This change is being piloted for 2022. Council will then review extending the program.

Permanent operator barriers

Starting in late April, permanent operator barriers are being installed on OC Transpo's bus fleet. Over 750 articulated, double-decker, and 40-foot buses will be equipped with an operator barrier by the end of August 2021.

Operator barriers, also known as shields, improve the workplace safety of our bus operators and enhance the overall safety of our customers.
