Return to shared rides on Para Transpo

As ridership levels continue to increase on Para Transpo, we are returning to normal operations, including shared trips, when necessary.

Staff will continue to schedule trips as efficiently as possible to ensure customers’ needs are being met.

Canada Day service

In-person festivities are returning this Canada Day, Friday, July 1! This will also be O-Train Line 1's first large Canada Day celebration since being in operation.

To celebrate, there will be no-charge service all day (until 4 am) on OC Transpo buses, O-Train Line 1, and Para Transpo.

  • O-Train Line 1 will operate on a special Canada Day schedule with increased evening frequency.
  • Buses will operate on a Sunday schedule, with additional buses available on busy routes throughtout the day and after the fireworks.
  • Para Transpo will be offering extended service.
  • Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) will also be providing no-charge service to and from Gatineau.

Summer service change

Summer service begins Sunday, June 26, 2022. Use the Travel Planner or view the route schedules to check if your regular trips are affected.

  • Portions of the Transitway, (between Tunney's Pasture and Dominion stations, and from Iris Street to Navaho Drive) will close permanently as part of Stage 2 construction.
  • School service will be removed for the duration of the summer.
  • Weekend service to summer destinations (Canada Aviation and Space Museum, Petrie Island, and the Canada Agriculture Museum) will return.

Virtual Line - OC Transpo service without waiting in line

Avoid long wait times and secure your place in line. The Virtual Line allows you to reserve service time at the Rideau OC Transpo Customer Service Centre from the comfort of your home or while on the go!

  • Book an appointment for as soon as the next day and as far away as two weeks.
  • Join the line right away and speak to a Customer Service Representative within 15 minutes.
  • Check in with your mobile device or on-site kiosk.
  • Cancel your appointment or leave the line anytime.

This improved digital-queuing system is another way we are working to keep you safer.

New ticket machines available

We’ve made 19 additional ticket machines available to customers across the Southeast Transitway and at select stations across the city.

While all existing forms of payment remain available, these additional ticket machines provide more flexibility in buying and loading a Presto card, and connecting with our Customer Service team via video chat.

Introducing My Para Transpo – an easier way to book, cancel, and track your ride

With this mobile-friendly online service, Para Transpo customers can:

  • Book trips for the next day, or 7 days in advance for holidays.
  • Cancel a booked trip either the day before or on the same day.
  • View and manage your booked trips.
  • Track a ride in real-time with a map and estimated time of arrival countdown.

If you have a ParaPay account, you already have access! Easily get started by logging in with your ParaPay Customer ID or your email and password. No ParaPay account? Find out how to enrol and get started.

Stage 2 : Transitway closure (Pinecrest Station to Bayshore Station)

On Sunday, April 24 at 3:00 am, the Transitway from Pinecrest Station to Bayshore Station will permanently close to assist in the continued construction of Stage 2. Routes: 61, 62, 63, 64, 66, 252, 256, 257, 258, 261, 262, 263, 264, 265, 267, 268, 283, 303, 404, 406, 454, 658, 660, 669, and 691 will be impacted.

Pinecrest and Bayshore Stations will remain open.

Rack & Roll winter pilot

Good news for all-season cyclists — the Rack & Roll program will continue through the winter this year!

Throughout the winter and into the spring, all double-decker buses will be equipped with a bike rack so riders can continue to Rack & Roll.

The Rack & Roll program this winter will show us how bike racks handle all-season transit operations.

Stage 2: Stop adjustments at Blair Station

On Sunday, April 24 at 3:00 am, Blair Station stop E will close permanently to assist in the continued construction of Stage 2. Impacted routes will instead service a relocated stop D.

The Transitway between Blair Station and R.R. 174 will also be closed permanently. Routes: 21, 28, 30, 32, 33, 34, 35, 38, 39, N39, 221, 231, 232, 234, 236, 237, 302 will be impacted.

You can now tap to pay with your credit card and smartphone mobile wallet at one of the fare gates of all O-Train Line 1 stations. Only single-ride Adult fares will be charged at the gate during the trial period, and no transfer will be issued.

  • Apple Pay
